17:00 Goodwood - Virgin Bet A Good Bet Handicap 6f
BROSAY first came to our attention at Glorious Goodwood last year when an unlucky sixth to Naana’s Sparkle, finishing off well once in the clear, and sure enough he followed up Wednesday by winning at Windsor and Ascot on his next two starts.
Perhaps unsurprisingly he found life hard enough from his revised mark for new trainer Charlie Pike at the start of this season but he has worked his way down to something much more workable now, a mark of 82 a full 9lb lower than his last winning one, and he gave notice his turn wasn’t far away when rattling home again here last time out, making up a lot of ground in the final furlong to be beaten a length.
Winner Old Is Gold went in again at Newmarket on Saturday, winning an easy four lengths, and given Brosay was a massive seven lengths clear of the third last time, it doesn’t take a genius to work out the form looks very strong. Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle can’t be a bad thing, and everything points to a huge run today.
19:00 Kempton - Unibet Supports Safer Gambling Handicap 7f
EYES FRONT is one of a couple that take the eye here and is just 1lb higher than when gaining his sole handicap win at Epsom in the summer.
In truth, he has run just about as well in defeat since that breakthrough win and is well drawn as he looks to consolidate that
success. Not beaten far despite only finishing fifth back at Epsom, he has seen that form franked with wins for a pair who sandwiched him there and he was a fair bit better than the result at Leicester last time, racing away from the main group towards the rail and keeping on well for fourth, beaten 2¾ lengths.
Only two runners from that race have been seen since, but both have won and Eyes Front can be marked up for running well in spite of a poor track position back at 6f, which is arguably too sharp for him.
He does need to prove he can handle this surface but his only try on Polytrack came on his seasonal return when clearly in need of the run, and he’s handicapped to play a big part back at 7f.
