Richard Fahey column including Growl's bid for glory in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon

Richard Fahey sends out four runners as he bids for a third Great St Wilfrid victory and top weight Growl is reported in top form.

Big chances

Growl - 3.15 Ripon (Sky Bet paying 5 places)

Society Red - 4.45 Doncaster

In First Place - 6.10 Bath

We run four in the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon on Saturday and I’d have high hopes of winning it with Growl.

He ran a good race to be fourth in the Stewards' Cup and I just feel if he's drawn right here then he's good enough to land this.

At Ripon they can win from a low number though and we're down the stands' side so it all depends on that - but I’d be disappointed if he didn't win the race on his side, at least.

Eastern Impact ran in that Stewards' Cup and had no real excuses although the ground would have been soft enough for him. He’s very useful on his day and capable of running well.

George Bowen is just so in-and-out. On a good day he’s very impressive and it's not beyond him winning something like this, but he’s very hard to predict.

Right Touch is a couple of pounds higher than I'd like but he does like Ripon and often runs his best races at this track. That's a major plus.

Our first runner on the card is Cosa Nostra and he’s quite a nice horse, we like him. The small question mark is over whether he’ll truly stay the mile, it’s a long way for a two-year-old. If he does he has a big chance.

Paddy Power runs in the William Hill Silver Trophy Handicap. He’s a disappointing horse who has plenty of ability. He has won this year but I have no idea how he's going to run from one race to another.

Simmy’s Copshop is a grand, little horse. He wasn’t quite at his best at Newbury last time but if he bounced back to the form of his second in France the time before then he’s another with a chance in the William Hill Ripon Horn Blower Conditions Stakes.

Collateral Beauty is our only runner at Newmarket in the randox.com Fillies' Nursery. She doesn’t show a lot at home and has surprised us a bit with her three runs to date. Trip and ground will suit here and it will be interesting to see how she goes.

We’re double-handed in the Follow Sun Bets On Instagram EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster.

Amazing Michelle ran well on her debut and should improve for the experience – whether it's enough to win this we'll have to see. Zoffinia looks one for handicaps - I’d be surprised if she was able to win a maiden but he she has some ability.

Six Strings is a horse I like. I thought he’d run better than he did down at Goodwood but perhaps the draw didn’t help him there. He needs to bounce back in the sunbets.co.uk Youbetcha Handicap but on his previous third at Hamilton would be in with a chance.

Society Red is a grand horse. He drops down in grade for the sunbets.co.uk Handicap in the hope we can get his head in front again. He’s a horse I like – we’ve pitched him in against the big boys recently and while he cut little ice, he might do in that league in the future.

Footlight has been disappointing. She goes in the Follow Sun Bets On Twitter Apprentice Handicap and I’ve always thought she’d be capable of winning races from 70 but she hasn’t been suggesting that of late.

Our final runner is In First Place who won really well at York last time. The Silk Series Lady Riders' Handicap at Bath looks the ideal race for him, trip and ground should be ideal. I hope they are as it’s a long drive home if he loses.
