1pt win Zamond in 15:50 Sedgefield at 7/2 (William Hill) - min 3/1
15:50 Sedgefield – Class 5 (0-100) Handicap Hurdle 2m 3f 188y
Donald McCain has unearthed a talented young conditional in the shape of Harry Brown, who spent spells assisting Oliver Sherwood and Georgie Nicholls before moving north.
Since riding his first winner for Nicholls on the Flat in February, the Devon-born rider hasn’t looked back and his seasonal record is now five wins and a further seven places from just 16 rides, and he looked very polished when scoring over fences on Bleu d’Enfer at Uttoxeter on Friday.
Brown also gave a smashing ride to ZAMOND over C&D last month, giving the gambled-on Willie Mullins winner Whitewinewednesday a fright under a well-judged ride that saw the pair beaten just half a length. He gets another chance on the son of Diamond Green here, and looks to have excellent claims on the form he’s been showing this term.
Zamond is just 1lb higher than for his last run and looks up to making amends for that narrow defeat with his rider’s 10lb claim a big asset.
