Daryl Jacob has some eyecatching rides at Sandown and Plumpton this weekend - don't miss his guide to their chances.
I have some interesting rides this weekend starting with Torpillo in the Unibet Juvenile Hurdle at Sandown. He has to give weight away all round here, ten pounds to all bar Fukuto, but we know he likes the track after his win here last time.
The ground won't be a problem for him either and this is another stage in the learning curve with the horse and we’ll find more out about him on Saturday.
Creep Desbois ran well to finish fourth at Aintree last time having unseated on his reappearance at Hereford. That was a good effort and I’d like to think he can come forward from it in the 32Red Handicap Chase. It looks a good fit for him and he should be there or thereabouts.
Le Reve has slipped down to a good handicap mark nowadays and I’m really looking forward to riding him in the Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase. He ran well at Warwick last time and likes it around here, I won a valuable handicap chase on him over course and distance back in 2015. He likes cut in the ground too and should run well.
I’m really looking forward to riding Master Dino in the Follow At The Races On Twitter Novices' Chase at Plumpton on Sunday.
Hats off to the track for putting on this race – and also offering the £60,000 bonus for any horse to win a novice chase here and then go on to score at the Cheltenham Festival.
It's a great initiative and they’ve been rewarded with a cracking field. It’s competitive but we think Master Dino is very good.
He has won his last five in France and while I've never ridden him in a race, I have schooled him at home. It's really exciting to be on him and I can’t wait although he would ideally prefer softer ground and a more galloping track.
