Rory Delargy provides today's preview and he's got his eye on one at Huntingdon.
Racing betting tips: Sunday November 1
1pt win Jet of Dreams in the 14:42 Huntingdon at 6/1 (General) – min 5/1
14:42 Huntingdon – Copybet Macer Gifford Handicap Chase 2m107y
JET OF DREAMS had nothing in hand when narrowly beating the reopposing Lady Kara under 10lb claimer Richard Upton at Sedgefield last time, and normally a 3lb rise would make him look vulnerable, but he remains in the same class and the way he jumped there gives hope that there is a bit more to come from him when the premium is on jumping, as it tends to be at Huntingdon, where the fences can look daunting for a novice. He now meets Lady Kara for a third time in recent weeks.
I believe he can beat her again despite the weights giving her a chance to turn the tables.
Although he has an excellent record at Sedgefield, where his two wins this term have come, Jet of Dreams has also won at right-handed tracks like Hereford and Taunton and promises to be suited by Huntingdon, while he’s not reliant on dominating his rivals to win, with his win coming under different tactics.
Upton looks well worth his 10lb claim at present and he is taken to use it to good effect once more in this contest which commemorates former jockey Macer Gifford, brother of Josh, whose most famous win came when landing the Whitbread Gold Cup on Larbawn in 1968. Those with long memories will remember he wore the violet and white check colours of owner/trainer Michael Marsh, and those same colours (passed on by the Marsh Estate to Paul Nicholls) were carried to victory at Ascot yesterday by Lucas Murphy aboard Viroflay.
