Sporting Life picks out the top five events or fixtures of the week not to be missed

Every week throughout summer, Sporting Life will pick out five highlights so you never miss a beat.

Our writers will provide all of the key information such as TV channels and kick-off times, plus the latest odds from Sky Bet and, finally, their own unmissable verdict.

We continue with five sporting highlights for the week ahead.

Racing - Sandown and Beverley

When: Saturday

Where: ...Sandown and Beverley

TV: ITV Racing/Racing TV

Sky Bet odds

It's a low-key weekend in racing, but there's always a chance we'll witness the birth of a superstar in Sandown's Solario Stakes.

Last year's contest was won by Too Darn Hot, who succeeded Derby winner Masar in landing the seven-furlong Group Three, and as well as the former, trainer John Gosden has won this with the high-class Kingman and Raven's Pass.

Meanwhile, it's the Beverley Bullet over at - you guessed it - Beverley, a Listed race over a stiff five furlongs which was won in both 2017 and 2018 by the speedy Take Cover.

After Ben 'Value Bet' Linfoot bagged the 16/1 Ebor winner last week, be sure to check out his advice along with that of the equally in-form Simon Holt.

It'll be on the website on Friday evening.

Football - Arsenal v Tottenham

When: Sunday

Where: Emirates Stadium

TV: Sky Sports

Sky Bet odds

After a chastening defeat at Anfield for Arsenal and a shock loss to Newcastle for Spurs, the first North London derby of the season takes on extra significance.

Unai Emery will look to focus on the positives of Arsenal's first two games and elements of their first-half display at Anfield, whereas Mauricio Pochettino has been displeased with much of Spurs' play so far and will see this as a chance to swiftly change things around.

All this comes after a busy Saturday in which Liverpool go to Burnley and Manchester United visit Southampton, while Manchester City, Chelsea and top-six hopefuls Leicester are all at home in 3pm kick-offs.

It promises to be another fascinating, informative weekend, which you can follow in full at Sporting Life.

F1 - Belgian Grand Prix

When: Sunday

Where: Spa

TV: Sky Sports F1

Sky Bet odds

It's one for the purists as F1 returns from its mid-summer break for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa, a circuit considered to be among the best around.

Over the years, Spa has rewarded the very best drivers in the history of F1 and Lewis Hamilton will remain the man to beat, despite encouraging signs from Ferrari, Max Verstappen's fearless driving in the Red Bull and the level of comfort Kimi Raikkonen has here.

Our coverage begins on Thursday with the latest unmissable tips from the F1 Insider, while we'll also have practice news, a report and reaction from qualifying, plus coverage of the race itself.

Golf – European Masters

When: Thursday to Sunday

Where: Crans-sur-Sierre

TV: Sky Sports Golf

Sky Bet odds

If you like your golf picturesque, then be sure to tune into Sky Sports for the Omega European Masters as the European Tour takes centre stage.

With the PGA Tour season having ended on Sunday, the focus is on matters across the pond as Matt Fitzpatrick bids for a hat-trick of titles in the Swiss Alps, where the views are stunning and the course always entertaining.

Those who hit plenty of greens will fare best at a tricky little layout which has some of the smallest greens on the circuit, offering birdie chances for those willing to take on risk while being ready to punish those who misfire.

It's a simply stunning venue and a very strong field for an event won by many of the European Tour's best.

Tennis - US Open

When: All week

Where: Flushing Meadows, New York

TV: Amazon Prime Video

Sky Bet odds

The final grand slam of the year promises to be a cracker, with the men's draw dominated by the usual suspects and the women's as wide-open on paper as we've come to expect.

Serena Williams will go in pursuit of history once more after her latest final defeat at Wimbledon, but watch out too for Johanna Konta after an encouraging season which includes a French Open semi-final.

As for the men, Djokovic could meet Roger Federer in the semi-finals but perhaps it's time for the youngsters to step up and prove that they're ready to carry the torch.

That, or Djokovic will meet Rafael Nadal in the final.
