WTA Tour: Yulia Putintseva through in Taiwan Open

Putintseva, who beat Heather Watson at the Australian Open, saw off Japan's Junri Namigata 6-2 6-4 in Taipei City.

Her Kazakh compatriot Zarina Diyas, seeded sixth, also eased through as she got the better of Anna Blinkova 6-2 7-5.

There was an early casualty in the seeds, though, as second seed Shuai Zhang of China went down 6-2 6-4 to Kateryna Kozlova.

There were also wins for Monica Niculescu, Kai-Chen Chang and Ying-Ying Duan.

Top seed Shuai Peng and Canada's Eugenie Bouchard are among those in action on Tuesday.
