Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won an epic battle of three tie-breaks to snatch the Internationaux de Strasbourg against Dominika Cibulkova.
The 26-year-old from Russia dropped the first set but led 4-1 in the second only to be pegged back at 6-6 again.
But this time it was Slovakian Cibulkova who blinked first as Pavlyuchenkova levelled the match.
The third set followed a familiar path and a thrilling deciding tie-break went the way of the third seed, who wrapped up a 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (8/6) victory in over three and a half hours.
Pavlyuchenkova faces Slovenian Polona Hercog in the first round of next week's French Open while Cibulkova will meet Germany's Julia Gorges.
Johanna Larsson claimed the Nuremberg Open with a straight-sets win over Alison Riske.
The world number 97 took a tight first set on the tie-break and held her nerve in the second to wrap up a 7-6 (7/4) 6-4 win over the American.
It was a notable success for Larsson, who had not reached a final outside her native Sweden since 2010.
