Hall of Fame Open: John Isner wins Newport title for a third time

John Isner won the Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open in Newport for the third time.

The big-serving American, seeded number one, beat Australian Matthew Ebden 6-3 7-6 (7/4) in the final.

Typically, it was Isner's delivery that got the job done against the first-time finalist as he sent down 17 aces and won 90 per cent of points off his first serve.

Isner, who will return to the world's top 20 on the back of the title, told atpworldtour.com: "It's hard to win a tournament. It's no small feat to come out here and be the last man standing. I'm very happy about that.

"It's been two years since I won a tournament, so I had that weighing on my mind."
