British number four Aljaz Bedene exited the Istanbul Open on Wednesday as top seed Milos Raonic hit back from losing the first set to win their second-round encounter.
Canada's Raonic, the world number six who was playing for only the second time since February due to injury, prevailed 6-7 (5/7) 6-3 7-6 (7/3) in a tight tussle that lasted just over two and a half hours.
He will now face Australian sixth seed Bernard Tomic in the quarter-finals.
World number 58 Bedene came into this tournament having last week reached the Hungarian Open final, in which Lucas Pouille inflicted his first defeat in 17 matches.
Tomic overcame Brazil's Rogerio Dutra Silva 7-5 6-3.
World number eight Marin Cilic, the second seed, is also through after the Croatian saw off Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia and Herzegovina 6-3 6-2.
Cilic's last-eight opponent will be Belgian eighth seed Steve Darcis, a 6-2 6-1 victor over Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic.
