Felix Auger-Aliassime is through to the quarter-finals of Chengdu Open


Teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime is through to his first ATP World Tour quarter-final after defeating Hyeon Chung at the Chengdu Open.

The 18-year-old Canadian knocked out last year's Next Gen ATP Finals champion with a 7-6 (7/2) 5-7 6-4 success and he will play Bernard Tomic in the next round.

Tomic saved a match point in the deciding set tie-break in overcoming fellow qualifier Lloyd Harris 7-6 (7/5) 2-6 7-6 (8/6).

Seventh-seeded Portuguese Joao Sousa went one better in saving two match points in the deciding set as he came from a set down to beat Vasek Pospisil 6-7 (7/4) 6-4 7-6 (7/0). Sousa will play Malek Jaziri after his 6-3 7-6 (7/5) victory over fourth seed Adrian Mannarino.

At the Shenzhen Open, Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka battled back from 0-3 down in the final set and saved two match points before recording a 7-6 (7/5) 3-6 7-5 victory over sixth seed Denis Shapovalov to reach the quarter-finals.

Pierre-Hugues Herbert overcame Greek second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 7-6 (7/4) and will now play Albert Ramos-Vinolas, who edged past Viktor Troicki 7-6 (7/4) 4-6 7-6 (7/3).
