Yan Bingtao storms into OPPO International Championship quarter-finals

Chinese teenager Yan Bingtao continued his impressive run at the OPPO International Championship in Daqing with a 6-4 win over Jack Lisowski to reach the quarter-finals.

The 17-year-old, who knocked Ronnie O'Sullivan out of the first round, opened up with breaks of 98 and 103 before Englishman Lisowski, helped by a clearance of 114, recovered to lead 4-3.

However, it was Yan, currently ranked at 53, who found the needed finish to set up a quarter-final against world number three John Higgins, the Scot having coasted past Mark Joyce 6-1.

In Wednesday's late session, world number one and tournament holder Mark Selby came through 6-4 against Mark Williams, claiming the final three frames to stave off a fightback from the Welshman.

Judd Trump rolled in two century breaks as he ended the hopes of home player Liang Wenbo with a 6-3 win. The world number four will next meet Mark Allen after the Northern Ireland potter edged a tense encounter with Martin O'Donnell on a final-frame decider.

Earlier on Wednesday, Robbie Williams had produced an upset to knock out Australian Neil Robertson, the 2010 world champion, with a 6-2 win, which sets up a last-eight showdown against Selby.

Ali Carter recorded a 6-2 victory over Shaun Murphy to secure a quarter-final against Martin Gould, who beat Robert Milkins 6-4.
