Kyren Wilson registered a 147 break in the first round of the UK Championship to make it three maximums in three weeks on the World Snooker Tour.
The World Championship runner-up held his nerve and found his way around the table from pink to black to complete the third maximum of his career, adding to those made by Shaun Murphy a fortnight earlier, and Judd Trump during the Northern Ireland Open.
Ryan Day's 147 in the Championship League means the tally for the season is now four, none more high-profile than Wilson's effort on the TV table during the first round of the first Triple Crown event of the campaign.
Wilson moved 4-2 in front courtesy of this fluent maximum but opponent Ashley Hugill was undeterred, taking the next two and forcing the world number four to pull out more to secure a 6-4 victory.
Earlier, Stephen Maguire progressed to the second round with an impressive 6-1 victory over youngster Iulian Boiko in Milton Keynes.
Maguire won this event back in 2004, before losing to Ding in the final in York 12 months ago, but he has found results harder to come by so far this term.
However, his game looked in excellent shape here as he overpowered Boiko with a string of big breaks to suggest he could well be a title contender once again.
The Scot kicked off with a run of 96 before following up with a pair of centuries (133 and 128) to stretch his lead to 3-0.
When he added a further break of 80 in frame four, the match was all over but over and though Boiko rallied to win the fifth frame, Maguire finished the job with contributions of 65 and 67 took book his place in round two.
Thepchaiya Un-Nooh made similarly light work of Lukas Kleckers, four breaks of 50-plus good enough to see him win 6-2.
