Tour Championship semi-final: Ronnie O'Sullivan beats Judd Trump 10-9

Trailing 6-2 into the evening, O'Sullivan put together back-to-back century clearances on his way to 8-8, but was left needing to win the final two frames after Trump re-took the lead once more.

The final frame of a thrilling match was the most dramatic of them all, Trump first racing into a fifty-point lead before missing a tricky red. O'Sullivan then fouled on the yellow, brushing it with his waistcoat while potting a red, but was handed a reprieve as errors crept into Trump's game.

Having opened up a match-winning chance after fluking the pink, O'Sullivan then missed a red which looked to have handed Trump victory - only for the left-hander to miss again, this time a straightforward yellow.

O'Sullivan potted the same ball himself, a brilliant, straight pot to the top-right corner, and cleared the remaining colours for an incredible win.

Trump returned to the table on Thursday night needing four frames for victory, and after ticking off one of them looked set for another when leading 7-4.

However, in potting the blue he went in-off at the other end of the table and O'Sullivan took full advantage, halving his deficit in time for the mid-session interval.

Trump took a 45-minute frame upon resumption before O'Sullivan rattled in back-to-back centuries and then took a third frame in succession to set up a thrilling climax to the match.

Trump had chances and will feel he ought to have won, but the relentless pressure applied by his opponent took its toll as O'Sullivan reached the final.

Judd Trump dominated the opening the session of his Coral Tour Championship semi-final with Ronnie O'Sullivan to lead 6-2 at the halfway point in Llandudno.

With O'Sullivan in irresistible form in his quarter-final cruise over Stuart Bingham and Trump rather more laboured when scraping past Mark Williams 9-8, The Rocket was a warm favourite to progress to yet another major final.

Nevertheless, two high-profile victories over O'Sullivan already this season, in the final of the Northern Ireland Open and The Masters, would have given Trump plenty of cause for optimism and he produced a dominant display in a frustrating two and a half hours work for the five-time world champion.

O'Sullivan had a couple of really good chances to win a scrappy opening frame but a couple of relatively simple missed pots, something that was to be a running theme of the afternoon, was to prove costly as Trump made him pay with a calm break of 54.

Frame two was another hard-fought affair but O'Sullivan managed to level up thanks to a run of 64 before Trump began to find his stride, winning the third frame and then extending his lead to 3-1 when overcoming a 47 point deficit thanks to a break of 68.

Trump continued to dominate upon the resumption, winning frame five, before O'Sullivan finally sprung into life with a wonderful break of 100.

O'Sullivan wasn't able to carry that momentum into the final frame of the session, though, a couple more missed pots from mid-range allowing Trump to control the affairs following a break of 52 and ensure he takes a significant 6-2 lead into tonight's concluding session.
