China Open: Jack Lisowski fights back to beat Li Hang 6-5

Hopes of a home winner in the China Open are gone after Jack Lisowski fought back to beat Li Hang 6-4.

Lisowski produced a brilliant clearance to draw level at 4-4 before taking the lead and producing another superb string of pots to seal victory.

The match was not without controversy as well as drama, some - including fellow professional Michael White - claiming that Li failed to admit to a foul at the start of frame nine.

In the end it was immaterial to the result as Lisowski advanced to face a rampant Stuart Bingham, who beat Rod Lawler 6-1.

Having fired in a maximum on Wednesday, Bingham remained firmly in the zone, claiming afterwards not to have any recollection of the back-to-back centuries which helped him to a straightforward win.

Whoever progresses from that mammoth quarter-final showdown will fancy their chances of reaching the final, with either Ben Woollaston or Scott Donaldson standing in their way.

Woollaston beat Lyu Haotian 6-4, before Donaldson produced a brave half-century to complete a 6-5 victory over Ricky Walden.

On the other side of the draw, Neil Robertson continued his own serene progress to beat Lu Ning 6-0, with Sam Craigie up next after his 6-2 victory over Liang Wenbo.

Luca Brecel was also a 6-0 winner against Hossein Vafaei, and he now faces Alan McManus, who is through to the last eight of a ranking event for the first time since reaching the World Championship semi-finals in 2016 after beating Anthony McGill 6-3.
