Wild card Ryan Davies reaches last 32 of Snooker Shootout along with Jimmy White

Wild card Ryan Davies is through to the last 32 of the BetVictor Shoot Out after defeating Ben Mertens.

The talented 16-year-old, first round conqueror of Robbie Williams, earned a third round clash against Sunny Akani with a 37-12 win over the 14-year-old Belgian Mertens.

In a clash of two former world champions, Stuart Bingham edged out Shaun Murphy and will face Kyren Wilson next, while Jimmy White and Dominic Dale were among those who also progressed.

However, defending champion Michael Georgiou is out - losing out in an exciting finish to Li Hang.

All matches at the tournament in Watford are decided over a single frame, with a shot clock giving players a maximum of 15 seconds to take shots in the first five minutes and 10 seconds in the final five minutes.

And there was drama between Ben Woollaston and Barry Pinches, the former potting what appeared to be the winning ball as the clock ran down, only for it to be called a foul with a colour still moving.

After consulting the video, it was confirmed that Woollaston had committed a foul and it was Pinches who advanced.
