Champion of Champions results and report: Mark Allen beats Judd Trump 6-1

Mark Allen stunned world number one Judd Trump 6-1 to reach the final of the Champion of Champions tournament in Milton Keynes.

Northern Irishman Allen – who came through a tense quarter-final showdown against Ronnie O’Sullivan on Thursday – opened with a century break of 102 and maintained his momentum to go into the interval 4-0 ahead.

Trump, world champion in 2019, looked to regroup for the second session, but Allen produced another run of 66 to move to within a frame of victory.

The world number one finally found his rhythm in the next frame to make a break of 80 and at least avoid a potential whitewash.

Allen, though, looked to soon be closing in on victory after he moved 67-21 ahead in the seventh frame only to miss a match ball and let Trump back in.

Despite playing his way back into the frame as he got onto the colours and forced a couple of snookers, Trump was unable to find a finish.

Allen, the world number eight, eventually sunk a pressure blue followed by the pink to edge the frame 78-64 and book his place in Sunday’s final against defending champion Neil Robertson.
