Steadily improved in 3 starts last year but having subsequently been gelded/had breathing operation, proved too free without cover on reappearance/handicap debut at Yarmouth. Back on the up when seventh of 10 at Newmarket (7f) since but has little in hand from this mark.

Finished a close third on first start for his new trainer (previously assistant to his old one Denis Quinn) at Yarmouth in May but not in the same form at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) subsequently. Bounce back required.

4-time winner over 7f, including over C&D last summer. Proved to be a disappointment back down in grade when sixth of 10 at Southwell (7f) 3 weeks ago but given a chance by the handicapper and expected to get back on track returned to turf.

Opened his account at Lingfield in September on his final run for George Boughey and in good nick for his current handler when last seen in February. Shouldn't be long in going one better but may need this following a 5-month absence.

Sole success came over C&D last summer and has finished runner-up twice from 4 starts this season, most recently in 9-runner event at Leicester (6f, good) last month. Return to 7f promises to suit so fancied to be in the shake-up.

5-time winner on all-weather since last seen on turf, not ideally placed when sixth of 12 at Lingfield (7f) back in April. Back down in class and could well have a say if ready to roll.

Forecasts

Stenmark (15/8), Jersey Maverick (11/4), Silver Trumpet (10/3), Panelli (7/1), Potomac River (8/1), Dandy Khan (25/1)

Verdict

SILVER TRUMPET bolted up over C&D last summer and provided he's able to put a lesser effort behind him, he gets the nod to add to his tally at the expense of Jersey Maverick, who has finished runner-up twice from his 4 starts this campaign and Charlie Fellowes' 4-y-o will appreciate this return to 7f. Panelli may prove best of the remainder.
