Group 3 winner last year (also fourth in the Middle Park on final outing). Unable to make an impact in 2 Group races this spring and unlikely to find it much easier in a handicap off such a lofty rating.

Useful 2-y-o but well held in 6f Doncaster listed event on reappearance in March and his triple-figure handicap mark looks very tough.

Looked good prospect when debut winner last May. Found the Coventry at Royal Ascot too much next time (not seen again at 2) but bounced back at Meydan earlier this year, going down narrowly on 6f handicap debut when last seen in March. Remains unexposed back in Britain. Has been gelded.

Dual winner at Newcastle at 2 and ended that campaign with good fourth in valuable sales race over 7f here. Very pleasing return when second of 13 in 6f Newmarket handicap (good to firm) in April and a stumble at the start provides some mitigation for a lesser run back there since. Has been gelded.

Took his record to 2-4 with a useful effort to edge out the reopposing Alaminos in 6f Pontefract handicap on reappearance. Raised 4 lb but can likely progress again.

Useful juvenile who opened his account in a 5f Hamilton maiden in September. Found only one too good in a C&D listed event last autumn but has started this season with a couple of poor efforts.

Progressive over 7f as a juvenile (including all-weather novice win) and improved again tackling 6f for the first time when narrowly denied in Newmarket handicap on reappearance 6 weeks ago. Almost certainly more to come for top stable.

Looked suited by the drop to 6f when easily landing short odds in Ripon maiden last month and confirmed that in no uncertain terms when a 4-length winner of a 14-runner handicap at Hamilton (good to firm) 9 days later. Raised 10 lb but it's unlikely to prevent him making a bold bid.

Progressed with each of first 3 starts, landing odds in a Kempton maiden before producing a useful effort when second under a penalty at Newcastle. Did too much too soon making handicap debut back at Newcastle on Good Friday and remains with potential now switching to turf with a tongue tie added

Didn't kick on from a highly promising start as a 2-y-o but back on track after 7 months off/in cheekpieces (also gelded) when third to reopposing Cape Ashizuri and Alaminos on 6f Pontefract reappearance. Weakened over 7f at Goodwood since and quick to revert to sprinting.

Both wins over 6f at Naas, latterly a 14-runner handicap 5 weeks ago, although he was seen to maximum effect in leading against the far rail. More will be needed here.

Won a C&D nursery at last year's Ebor Meeting and has taken her form up another notch at Chester this season, building on her reappearance second when overcoming a wide draw in an 11-runner race a fortnight ago. Can give another good account.

All-weather winner for Archie Watson who improved to make a successful start for Brian Ellison in big-field 5f handicap at the Dante Meeting here. Backed that up when fourth of 16 here (5f again) 3 weeks ago and leaves the impression he may do even better over 6f. Considered.

Won twice on all-weather 5 months apart (left Adrian Murray and gelded in between). Not seen to best effect from a difficult draw on handicap/turf debut and quickly resumed his progression when second of 8 to Tricky Tel at Hamilton (6f, firm) 17 days ago, pulling clear of the rest.

Second of 15 in a listed race at Redcar (6f, good to soft) last October. Beaten at short odds in Lingfield maiden on reappearance but made no mistake in a similar race at Salisbury (good to soft) 3 weeks ago. Not obviously well treated back in a handicap.

Finished runner up on second of 2 starts as a juvenile and found another chunk of improvement after 6 months off when wide-margin winner of 11-runner Kempton maiden (6f) 6 weeks ago. That form has been boosted by a few of those in behind and an opening mark of 85 could prove lenient.

Had a busy and productive campaign last year, winning twice at Hamilton and adding a 5f course nursery in the autumn. Two good in-frame efforts last month (latterly to stablemate Red Spells Danger at Hamilton) but not at his best at Thirsk (5f) 13 days ago.

Lightly-raced gelding who won 5f Ripon maiden (good to firm) and finished second in 6f Pontefract novice (soft) last year. Returned with creditable third of 7 in 5f Musselburgh handicap last weekend and can take a step forward from that now returned to 6f. Looks the pick of the Fahey trio.

Verdict

This looks as competitive as ever but it was striking the way in which THUNDER CALL came clear in a Kempton maiden last month and an opening mark in the mid-80s could easily underestimate him. It's really clicked for Red Spells Danger since dropped to 6f and he's second choice ahead of Man of Vision and Fortification, who has run a couple of crackers over 5f here since joining Brian Ellison and leaves the impression 6f will suit him even better.
