Got into a much better rhythm in first-time blinkers and found progress when second of 12 in handicap at Salisbury (1¼m, good to soft) just under a fortnight ago, doing best of those ridden close up. Big player provided the headgear works just as well here.

Landed a gamble on his yard debut (formerly with Clive Cox) with a cosy success in 11-runner handicap at Ripon (1m) in April, despite conceding first run. Seemingly undone by the combination of a rise in the weights and significantly better race at Nottingham since.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: Tom Marquand| T: Oli Rix| OR:  71
Produced best effort yet when second in 1¼m handicap at Nottingham in April despite blowing the start. Not in the same form over a longer trip at York last month and that effort raised questions about his attitude. Booking of Marquand does signal intent though.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-5| J: Jason Hart| T: H Palmer| OR:  68
Showed promise on first couple of starts but ran too badly to be true when tailed-off last of 12 in novice at Wolverhampton (8.6f) when last seen in December. Handicapper taken a stab with a mark of 68 but hard to know what to expect on return/turf debut.

Phoenix Of Spain filly who showed promise on her first 2 starts when placed in novices at Southwell and Wolverhampton. Possibly found the race coming too soon when down the field at former track in March and remains open to improvement on handicap/turf debut (has had a breathing operation).

Far more prominent in the betting than previously and duly improved again after 3 months off when second of 9 on handicap debut over C&D in April. Not so good at Newbury since but worth another chance returned to this venue.

Never better than mid-field in a handful of runs last season and was flying too high on return/handicap debut at York last month. First-time cheekpieces applied but hard to fancy on what he's shown so far.

Forecasts

Faeberon (5/2), Battosai (11/4), Domination (6/1), Madjid (7/1), Filly Eilish (8/1), Aerial Silk (10/1), Dryburgh (12/1), Turtle Reef (14/1), Attention Seeker (25/1), Howsham (66/1)

Verdict

MADJID ran a cracker over C&D on handicap debut in April and Harry Charlton's charge is worth another chance having failed to keep straight at Newbury 3 weeks ago. He can get the better of Faeberon, who showed much-improved form with reappearance run behind him when third on handicap debut at Thirsk recently and this return to 1¼m promises to suit. Battosai rounds off the shortlist.
