Day Before Terry Wheeler's Birthday Mares' Handicap Hurdle

Bangor maiden hurdle winner who ended her time with Brian Ellison with a poor run on the Flat at Leicester at the end of April but had placed twice over hurdles at Sedgefield prior to that.

Won over 17f at this venue (good) last month and even better form when second of 8 back here (17f again, good to soft) last Wednesday. Good shout off the same mark.

Progressive form, benefiting from the step up in trip when making it third time lucky in 2½m Hereford maiden (good to soft) 7 weeks ago. Respected handicap newcomer.

No better than modest form in qualifying runs around 2m this spring but the slightly longer trip promises to be in her favour now handicapping.

Improved effort when second of 7 in 2m Uttoxeter maiden (good) 11 days ago. Enjoyed the benefit of a soft lead on that occasion but still respected as a handicap newcomer from a top stable.

Posted a good second of 8 over 2m at Fakenham in December on her sole run for John and Rhys Flint but well held handicaps over 2½m at Ffos Las and 23f Fakenham for new trainer this spring. First-time cheekpieces need to have a positive effect.

Got off the mark for her new yard at Fontwell (19f, good) last May but not seen again until pulled up back there (2¾m) 47 days ago. Can only really watch on the back of that.

Maiden for Sheila Lewis but did place in handicaps off slightly higher marks than this. Has been off for 385 days ahead of this first outing for a new stable. The betting should help guide to expectations.
