Signed off productive 2-y-o campaign with a decisive display in a listed event at Pontefract (1m, heavy) during the autumn. Switch to dirt was perhaps the reason for a poor display in Saudi Arabia in February and while he ran better in the Feilden Stakes 3 weeks ago, he has work to do with Morshdi.

Ran to high figure for a beaten 2-y-o on debut when a short-head second to Distant Storm on debut at Newmarket last summer. Landed the odds at Galway soon after before taking rise to Group 2 company in his stride in Futurity Stakes at the Curragh (all 7f). Good sort physically and expected to stay.

Impressive debut winner of 6f Curragh maiden before fine second in Group 3 there later in June. Looked the type to go on improving but odds-on second in 7f Tyros Stakes the following month in final 2-y-o start. Better than result when eighth of 11 to Thesecretadversary in Red Rocks Stakes on return.

Already gelded son of Kameko who shaped well when a head second in 1m maiden at Kempton on debut in March and confirmed that promise in no uncertain terms when making all at Yarmouth 4 weeks ago (1m). Another jolt of progress required at this level up in distance.

Lope De Vega brother to smart 1m-1¼m winner Arabian Force, closely related to useful 6f-9.5f winner Smart Hero and he looked a fine prospect when a ready debut winner (value for plenty extra) on heavy ground at Doncaster in October (1m). In the right hands to leave that bare form behind on return.

Verdict

CONSTITUTION RIVER produced a dominant display when signing off his 2-y-o season in perfect fashion in the Futurity Stakes, a race that has thrown up several subsequent Classic winners. He's raced exclusively at 7f to date but hopes are high he will stay this far and he can continue Aidan O'Brien's stranglehold of this race. Morshdi is borderline smart and with race fitness on his side, is expected to provide stiff opposition.
