AINE'S LAD produced a career best to open his account at Thurles earlier in the month and Matthew Smith's 7-y-o gets the vote to make a winning start in this discipline at the expense of Duce Bigalow, who got back on the up when runner-up at Navan last month and is partnered by rising star Michael Kenneally. Plain Or Battered and Baldur's Gate can do battle for minor honours.
