Dunraven Handicap Hurdle

Off time: 16:21 | Winning time: 5m 17.33s

Getaway Master⁴⁸

Age: 9| Weight: 12-0| J: Bryan Carver| T: Micky Hammond| OR: 96| D

18/1

Won at Carlisle (19.2f) in late November before finishing seventh of 16 in 3m handicap hurdle at Wetherby (13/2) 48 days ago off a revised mark, never landing a blow and lack of stamina not the issue. Will need to pull out more back down in trip.

Form: PP-8127

Bolsover Bill^b,t¹⁷

Age: 9| Weight: 11-13| J: Miss Victoria Malzard⁽⁵⁾| T: Harry Derham| OR: 95| D

9/1

Better than ever when landing back-to-back handicap chases at Exeter in January 2024 on first 2 starts for current yard but well below his best since returning from a lengthy absence this season. Still warrants a market check down in grade on just his second hurdle start for Harry Derham.

Form: 33/6397

Harbour Light¹⁵

Age: 5| Weight: 11-11| J: Toby McCain-Mitchell⁽⁵⁾| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR: 93

11/2

Bred to need time/distance and has shaped accordingly in bumpers/hurdles, ninth of 17 in maiden hurdle at Wincanton (100/1) 15 days ago, never remotely in it from rear. Makes handicap debut over a longer trip and could well make more impact.

Form: 8-7779

Mumbles^p1¹⁴

Age: 8| Weight: 11-10| J: Osian Radford⁽¹⁰⁾| T: Evan Williams| OR: 92| CD

11/2

Flourished on testing ground over hurdles in 2024, but failed to complete his last four chase starts, tailed off when pulled up at Ffos Las (3/1) 14 days ago. Previous C&D winner could bounce back in first-time cheekpieces on return to hurdles.

Form: PP-026P

Directly²⁵

Age: 7| Weight: 11-8| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: S Drinkwater| OR: 90

25/1

Bit of promise when fourth in Worcester bumper on debut but no impact in 4 runs over hurdles, sent off 22/1 on handicap bow when fifth of 7 at Lingfield Park 25 days ago, upped markedly in trip but failed to improve and was tailed off. Dropped 5 lb and worth checking if market expects better.

Form: 45-505

Locked Down Lad¹⁷

Age: 6| Weight: 11-7| J: Taylor Fisher| T: J Tickle| OR: 89

9/2

Winner of sole start between the flags and has finished in the frame 5 times including when second over C&D. Unseated in handicap at this C&D (5/1) 17 days ago in contention when clipping heels, his second luckless exit. Capable of being competitive if his confidence remains intact.

Form: 3323BU

Inion Tiogair^b²⁵

Age: 9| Weight: 11-2| J: Joe Anderson⁽³⁾| T: G Harris| OR: 84

6/1

Improved form this winter with three runner-up finishes in last five starts, though yet to win over hurdles. Second of 7 in handicap hurdle at Lingfield Park 25 days ago, ran well but lugged in behind the progressive winner and had no answer late in the day. This looks an easier assignment.

Form: 4-22542

Onehundredneighty⁴⁹

Age: 6| Weight: 11-0| J: Miss Clara Brewitt⁽⁷⁾| T: M Young| OR: 82

150/1

Yet to show ability under Rules and was tailed off when left second of 4 in maiden hurdle at Sedgefield (150/1) 49 days ago. Makes handicap debut upped in trip but plenty to prove.

Form: 7-90902

Richardson²⁰

Age: 11| Weight: 10-12| J: Lee Edwards| T: B Clarke| OR: 80| CD

10/1

Won this race off 6 lb higher a year ago but has struggled since returning from a 10-month break. Fifth of 7 in handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter (10/1) 20 days ago, possibly still needing the run, making a mistake at 3 out and soon done with. Veteran could be closer to form here.

Form: 3/511-55

Churchman^p1²¹

Age: 8| Weight: 10-10| J: Tom Broughton⁽⁵⁾| T: A Ralph| OR: 78

7/2

Maiden who finished third of 12 in handicap hurdle at Warwick (6/1) 15 days ago, travelling fluently before proving one-paced on the run-in. First-time cheekpieces applied and should be in the mix.

Form: 437-363

Mi Sueno⁹⁴

Age: 7| Weight: 10-8| J: Liam Harrison| T: D Brace| OR: 76

12/1

Out of sorts for a long time and pulled up in selling handicap at Huntingdon (15.8f) 3 months ago when taking a strong hold and weakening quickly, having raced from out of the handicap in first-time visor. Changed hands in January but plenty to prove with visor removed.

Form: 58P0-6P

Forecasts

Churchman (7/2), Locked Down Lad (9/2), Harbour Light (11/2), Mumbles (11/2), Inion Tiogair (6/1), Bolsover Bill (9/1), Richardson (10/1), Mi Sueno (12/1), Getaway Master (18/1), Directly (25/1), Onehundredneighty (150/1)

HARBOUR LIGHT looks a likely improver on handicap debut and is narrowly preferred to Inion Tiogair who has been running consistently well with three runner-up finishes from her last five starts, for all she's yet to win in 15 starts over hurdles. Churchman travelled fluently before proving one-paced when third at Warwick but should be in the mix again.
