Ran to a fairly useful level on hurdle bow in France but has undermined his obvious potential by pulling hard on both starts in U.K, latterly in a first-time hood (retained) when chasing home a more professional sort at Hereford (16.2f) 17 days ago. Dangerous if racing more efficiently here.

Modest maiden on the Flat (sold out of Robert Eddery yard for £5,000) and no show in either start for new yard, latest on Taunton hurdles bow following further 20-month absence. Plenty to prove.

Maiden winner on the Flat and produced some fairly useful hurdle form for Denis Hogan in Ireland. Yet to recapture that form with pair placed efforts on these shores but hasn't been long with capable yard and would be interesting if back to something like his best.

Fair on Flat (stays 1½m) for Rod Millman but well beaten on hurdle/stable debut at Taunton (19f, 150/1) 3 weeks ago. Easy to look elsewhere.

Placed both completed starts in Irish points but looks to be being brought along steadily over hurdles for current yard, not given hard time at Fontwell (19.1f, soft) 18 days ago. Will be of more interest once handicapping.

Very useful on Flat (stays 15f) for Andre Fabre (changed hands for 220,000 gns) but no impact in 2 Flat outings for current yard and fared little better on hurdle debut (11/1) at Chepstow (2m, good to firm) last month. Too soon to discount, especially if market expects better.

Bred to need time/distance and has shaped accordingly in bumpers/hurdles, not given hard time at Hereford (16.2f) earlier this month. Looks a longer-term project.

Dam half-sister to fairly useful hurdler (stays 2¼m) Spy. Fair maiden on Flat for David Simcock (sold for 4,000 gns in October 2024) but has been off for 18 months prior to this hurdle/stable debut and is entitled to need this (wears first-time tongue strap).

€80,000 3-y-o, Kayf Tara gelding. Dam (h107) 21f hurdle winner out of smart 2m-3m hurdle winner Whiteoak. Easy winner of Irish point in February and is one to note on hurdle/stable debut.

Runner-up sole completed start in points but didn't offer much on Rules debut over C&D 2 weeks ago. Makes little appeal in the short-term.

Stoutly-bred Shirocco gelding showed a fair level of ability in 2 Irish bumpers for Stuart Crawford but shaped like a handicap project when well held on hurdle/yard debut at Chepstow last month.

Showed more than first time up over hurdles when well held fifth in 10-runner C&D novice 2 weeks ago (200/1) but will be better off in handicaps down the line.

Cheap purchase given his good pedigree and he showed a bit until a rather headstrong display caught up with him on bumper debut at Chepstow last month. Now sent hurdling but is likely a long-term project.

Second in 3-runner event sole start in Irish points (Apr 2025) and shaped a bit better than on hurdle debut when midfield in first-time hood (retained) at Taunton (150/1) 3 weeks ago. Another who'll prove better suited to handicaps.

Yet to achieve anything in form terms, typically too free when 150/1, eighth of 9 in novice hurdle at Fontwell (17.7f, soft) 18 days ago.

Easy winner of sole start in Irish points but is bred for long distances and was never a threat on Rules debut in 2m Ffos Las novice. One for the future.

Solid second on hurdle debut for David Cottin (sold for €200,000) and has filled the same position in both starts for new yard, looking the likely winner before tying up late at Exeter (16.7f) 20 days ago. Receives handy weight allowance and may go one better over this slightly shorter trip.

Verdict

In receipt of weight from the field, this looks a good opportunity for POURQUOI PAS PAPA to get off the mark following a hat-trick of runner-up finishes. Aguellid has plenty of potential and will be a serious danger if settling better, while Bright Legend can be competitive if recapturing his Irish form. One-time useful Flat stayer Galashiels and point winner Mossy Fen Coolio both warrant a market check.
