Won the 2023 Albert Bartlett but has lost his way, pulled up five of last 7 starts. Well beaten on Boxing Day at Wincanton and has plenty to prove in change of headgear.

Useful hurdler who ran a cracker when again finishing third in valuable stayers' handicap here on reappearance/first start since wind surgery. That form has been well-advertised, and he remains one to be interested in (fell on chase debut latest) returning to hurdles over this C&D.

Made up into a useful hurdler in 2023/24, finishing second in Pertemps at the Festival. Failed to convince in a trio of chase starts last season but seemingly back to his best this season, not beaten far in a pair of 3m handicaps at Aintree/Cheltenham. Likely to be in the mix down in grade.

Low mileage for his age and produced a strong galloping display when notching a third success over hurdles in a 7-runner handicap at Kelso (22.7f, soft) last month. That was an ordinary race for the grade but he's respected stepping back up to 3m following a career best effort.

Resumed winning ways in a small field handicap hurdle at Hexham in June but went off too hard over same C&D on latest hurdle start. Hasn't pulled up any trees over fences since and remains to be seen if she can bounce back returned to hurdles off a short break.

Both wins in Britain at Uttoxeter, latterly a 2½m handicap from a 3 lb lower mark in July. Step back in the right direction when staying-on third over shorter trip at Wetherby (21.2f) latest and fairly treated if on a going day back over 3m.

Point/useful bumper winner who is progressing over hurdles, getting off the mark at the third attempt in convincing fashion Sedgefield (19.8f) on Boxing Day. Step up to 3m should suit on pedigree/run-style and he's completely unexposed on handicap debut for top yard.

Landed third success of a progressive season at this track over 2m5f last January and backed that up when fifth in a better race at Newbury next time. Undone by a bad blunder on first try over staying trip on final run of campaign and could be worth another chance on seasonal reappearance.

Progressive mare shaped well in this grade at Aintree (solid form) prior to landing a fourth career win (all on ground good or better) at Catterick in November. Improved/shaped as if still in top form (traded odds-on in-running) when third at Doncaster (3m) latest and merits plenty of respect.

Former Edinburgh National winner but hasn't built on promising second over fences on his Carlisle reappearance in October. Again didn't look straightforward (carried head awkwardly) when no threat on hurdles return over C&D 18 days ago and best to look elsewhere.

Forecasts

Dalston Lad (5/2), Solar System (4/1), Heather Honey (5/1), Phantomofthepoints (6/1), Kyntara (15/2), Both Barrels (10/1), Icare Allen (12/1), Stay Away Fay (22/1), Pinot Rouge (28/1), Inis Oirr (40/1)

Verdict

Useful bumper winner DALSTON LAD is totally unexposed as a staying hurdler and he's taken to make a winning handicap debut for the Skelton yard. Phantomofthepoints has rock-solid form over this C&D and has to be feared returning to hurdles, along with improving mare Heather Honey, who traded at short odds in running last time and will be well-suited by drying ground.
