Modest form in a couple of Northern bumpers prior to shaping nicely on his hurdling debut at Uttoxeter (15.8f). Went backwards from his hurdling debut last time at Perth (16.2f) struggling from some way out, needs to bounce back.

Unplaced in a pair of 2m point-to-point bumpers last year he's finished well held in bumpers and a novice hurdle under Rules (had wind surgery after his first bumper). In truth, has shown very little, tongue-tie returns (was worn on debut).

Gelded prior to point-to-point debut (fell) before being beaten a head on his second start in that sphere. Showed plenty of ability on his hurdling debut at Bangor (19.6f, good), beaten 5L, finished with running left, should improve for that outing.

Exceeded market expectations on his bumper debut at Perth (16.2f) early last year, achieved very little over hurdles in two outings later in 2019. Looks relatively limited, returns from a fair absence, makes only limited appeal.

Just the one bumper run to his name at Musselburgh earlier in the year when showing very little promise finishing well beaten (64L). Made some appeal on pedigree (half-brother to two winners), would need to make a big step forward to get involved.
Showed nothing more than inexperience in two bumpers for Keith Dalgleish, with his hurdling career getting off to an inauspicious start for this stable. Took a strong hold last time, showed little, had to recommend off an absence.
Four-time useful Flat winner (Turf/AW) for Clive Cox at up to 12f before turning his attentions to hurdles. Beaten at odds-on hurdles debut (for Dan Skelton), swiftly moved to this yard, below-par last time after a wind op, something to prove.
Made an encouraging start to his career in bumpers when third at Market Rasen (race placed too much emphasis on speed). Below-par last time bearing in mind debut showing, interesting hurdling newcomer but likely to need a stamina test.

Fair at best on Flat (stays 9f), looked much in need of the experience on his hurdling debut over C&D last month. Jumped none too fluently, beaten 43L, will need to brush his jumping if he's to be a threat, modest appeal at best.

Maiden on the Flat not seen for nearly a year having reportedly finished lame at Brighton (9.9f) when last seen. Left Mark Johnston now makes his hurdling/stable debut with plenty of question marks against his profile.

The only mare in the field, won only start in Irish point-to-points, well held in bumpers/over hurdles (first three starts for Keith Dalgleish). Fared poorly for this stable at Catterick in March (wore cheekpieces), now dons a first-time tongue-tie.

Forecasts

Finisk River (10/11), Dont Go Gentle (3/1), Now Children (10/3), Blueskyandsunshine (7/1), Our Rodney (16/1), Kilfinan Bay (40/1), Geography Teacher (40/1), Nomountainhienough (150/1), Minnimo (150/1), Movin'on Up (200/1), Jukebox Blues (200/1), Dee Lane (200/1)

Verdict

Not a strong event and it probably gives FINISK RIVER a good chance of getting off the mark having showed promise on debut at Bangor in a race where he was only beaten 5L by a couple of more experience and faces nothing of that ilk here. Now Children, much the best of these on the Flat hasn’t so far managed to put it all together over hurdles disappointing last time after showing promise on his debut despite being beaten at odds-on. This will be his second run back from a wind op, a return to a shorter trip and sharper track may well help. Don’t Go Gentle makes his hurdling debut having shown ability in bumpers but he looks the type to need a stiffer test to reveal his true potential.
  1. Finisk River
  2. Now Children
  3. Dont Go Gentle
