Horse A-Z
Has a penalty as the only Rules winner but the performance he put in at Exeter was that of a horse of significant ability so is the one they all have to beat here.
Arcadio newcomer who cost €22,000 at Goffs two years ago out of a stoutly bred maiden. Yard record suggests a watching brief.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: Thomas Bellamy| T: A King
Irish point-to-point winner on his third start ran a respectable enough race on Rules debut when third of nine at Kempton beaten less than 4L. Can improve so one for the shortlist.
Half-brother to chase/hurdles winner Hangover finished midfield on debut here last month and though improvement is likely he rates a more long-term project.
Newcomer by crack sire Getaway out of a stoutly bred Oscar mare. Half-brother won a 3m point and he too will likely excel in staying chases down the line.
Passing Glance gelding showed some ability before weakening into fifth on debut at Bangor. This looks considerably stronger so unlikely to better that finishing position.
Son of Darsi bought for £62,000 after winning second point-to-point at Borris House. Joined prolific team well-versed with bumper success so one to watch in the market.

Kalanisi gelding fourth of eight in ordinary Huntingdon bumper almost two years ago and best watched here having not been seen since.
Arvico newcomer a half-brother to a point-to-point winner out of a maiden dam. Stable have leading hope Red Rookie so market will reveal comparison.
Sixth of eight on debut at Sandown and again looks best watched for good yard but one not at all known for success in bumpers.
Represents Cheveley Park whose bumper record is quite exceptional and having won his lone point-to-point before joining Seven Barrows he is in the 'could be anything bracket', Worth chancing here.

Western Starlet58
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: R Johnson| T: W Greatrex| BF
Westerner gelding second beaten 16L by useful looking Olly Murphy trained runner when favourite on debut at Ayr. Ought to at least be competitive and jockey booking speaks volumes.
Schiaparelli newcomer out of a well related 2m4f hurdle winner one to watch for future ventures today.
Newcomer the first foal out of a French 2m1f-2m3f hurdle and chase winner represents good yard which also run once-raced Es Perfecto so the market ought to be helpful.

Verdict

With the likes of Envoi Allen and Ferny Hollow Cheveley Park are quickly gaining reputation for recruiting seriously smart point performers capable of going to the top in bumpers. Predicting such lofty heights for STAITHES would be foolish but he is worth siding with given he will undoubtedly have been bought to become a Graded level performer; Nicky Henderson's 26 per cent bumper strike-rate also helps. Red Rookie looked useful at Exeter so he is the one they have to beat despite a penalty. Point winner Es Perfecto ran well enough at Kempton and he too is expected to make a bold bid now.
  1. Staithes
  2. Red Rookie
  3. Es Perfecto
