Well backed when winning at Plumpton (2m2f, heavy) last month and looks to have a bright future. Will need to be on his A-game to cope with the penalty but has to be respected; especially as the rider's claim effectively cancels out the burden.
Well beaten in two starts at Wincanton and already has a lot to find. He's a half-brother to a a couple of bumper winners but has so far looked unlikely to carry on the family trait.
Finished second in an Irish point-to-point in March and was then sold on for £170,000 at the Aintree sales the following month. Debuts for a respected yard and no surprise to see this son of a sister to Cheltenian (Champion bumper winner) go close.
Well beaten over C&D on debut last month and not much to recommend him as one to follow at this stage on that evidence.
Ran well on debut at Wincanton over Christmas and, although well beaten, he should have learned plenty from the run. One to seriously monitor in the betting this time.
Disappointed when started as the favourite on his debut run at Chepstow last November but ran a bit better when back at the same course last month. Stamina laden pedigree leans towards a longer trip suiting in due course.
Well beaten in similar races here and at Warwick last month and hard to envisage him having the requisite improvement just now. Another who may do better when tried over a longer trip further down the line.
Cost €125,000 and is a half-brother to a couple of Listed race winners (over hurdles and fences) in France. Highly respected connections and intersting the gelding is introduced at this level. Another to have on the shortlist at least.
Cost £20,000 as a three-year-old; he's a half-brother to 2m4f/3m winner Down Under; is also a daughter of the well related Collen Glen, so lots to like on pedigree and runs for a top yard. The betting can guide this time.
Swapped hands for £50,000 at the Cheltenham sales in April after finishing a highly encouraging third in an Irish point-to-point; bred to be effective at the trip but a hood being applied for racecourse bow is a concern.
A stoutly-bred gelding who runs for an in-from yard; he's a half-brother to a 3m chase winner; and also a dual winner in point-to-points. Likely to need a stern test of stamina but can only benefit from the run.
Forecasts
Mocacreme Has (5/2), Mountain Leopard (7/2), Boulting For Glory (4/1), Red Rookie (7/1), Big Bresil (7/1), The Big Sting (9/1), Pol Crocan (9/1), Lamanver Storm (20/1), Lightonthewing (50/1), Botus Fleming (100/1), Alkademon (100/1)
Interesting to see the well bred MOCACREME HAS introduced at this level given his €125,000 purchase price. He's bred to be effective over the trip and runs for a yard that has en exemplary record in bumpers in recent times. Big Bresil, whose dam is a sister to Champion Bumper winner Cheltenian, is also respected as a big money purchase who debuts for a yard that is very capable of having him ready at the first time of asking. Mountain Leopard sets a modest standard at present and will do well to concede a 7lb penalty if his main rivals are above average. Pol Crocan and The Big Sting are a couple of others that should be noted for future reference at least.
- Mocacreme Has
- Big Bresil
