2019 was a good year for the gelding and he's continued progressing now tried over fences; kept on well to win at Ffos Las in December but now has more to do from a 5lb higher mark. Also has a longer trip to contend with this time.

Proved his worth over hurdles with a win at Cheltenham in December 2018 but not yet set the world alight over fences. Was a well held third last time but still has scope and is a proven stayer. Has to be a threat to the others in this small field.

The one to beat on the official ratings and highly respected given his proximity to the winner in last month's Welsh national at Chepstow. Yet to get going when he fell at Haydock last week but still a player here if unscathed by the experience.

Prime Venture (4/6), Aaron Lad (3/1), Some Can Dance (10/3)

Sure to be a tactical affair but it's still a race in which PRIME VENTURE has a lot going for him and he can gain some compensation for his near miss in the Welsh National at Christmas. The trip and ground hold no fears for the gelding and he can make the most of weight he receives from Some Can Dance, who is respected but needs to prove a testing 3m will ideally suit. Aaron Lad still has scope to develop further as a chaser and is forwarded as the bigger threat to the selection this time.
