Done well without winning lately and his exertions have resulted in him creeping back up the weights. His dam won over this trip so there's cause for optimism now he's eased in grade and tries 1m2f for the first time. 0-9 on the AW, though.

C&D winner in November (odds of 20/1) and respected from just 2lb higher even though he was held off this mark the last twice. Met trouble here latest but has a good attitude and might do better with a clear passage this time.

Improved since being asked to tackle this sort of trip and proved he's capable with a win over an extended 1m1f on Tapeta in November. Just failed over that same C&D last time but has experience of Polytrack and the application of blinkers assists.

A dual C&D winner last September and generally held his form well since. Wasn't unduly punished by the handicapper and still well handicapped on old form; dangerous to underestimate.

Breeding indicates the step up in trip is within his compass but the gelding only made modest strides in three starts (once over 6f & twice over 7f) last year and, with his yard being quiet just now, he might be best just watched on this occasion.

On a handy mark but is 0-7 on the AW and her regressive form towards the end of 2019 leaves the mare with something to prove just now. Poor effort last time over 1m4f also a persuasive factor in looking elsewhere.

Verdict

THE GAME IS ON has got better since being sent over more challenging distances and he could take some stopping if he responds favourably to the fitting of blinkers instead of his usual cheekpieces. The gelding's trainer is sparing in his use of headgear and the application is noted a significant factor. Wimpole Hall has shown a willingness to battle and poses a big threat to the selection, while Fair Power is on an attractive mark and also merits serious consideration in what is a pretty weak finale.
