- Chieftain Handicap Hurdle (Class 3)
- 1m 7f 113y, Soft (Heavy in places)
- 10 Runners
- Surface: Turf
All three of his hurdle wins have been over further than this minimum trip and on good ground. Has been useful at his best, but well held in his only completed start of three for this trainer. Can only watch at present.
Arrives in fabulous form after completing a hat-trick with wins at Wincanton (1m7½f, heavy); Taunton (2m3f, soft) and Plumpton (2m, soft), the last very easily by 14L. On that evidence it will take a very good effort to beat him under a 7lb penalty.
Improving mare who scored at Hexham (2m, soft) in October, went close at Wetherby next time, and beat her own sex at Hereford (2m, heavy) last month. Needs to step up again from this initial mark, but open to improvement and could do so.
Multiple chase winner. Just below top class in that sphere. Has only had five hurdles runs, winning the first of them at Ffos Las in 2013. Trip/ground no problem and should be competitive now dropped 3lb after a respectable Haydock hurdles run.
Has shown promise over hurdles, winning at the fourth attempt at Uttoxeter (2m, heavy) last month. Up 8lb for that, when he stayed on well. Needs improvement in this company, but can't rule that out.
Has not yet managed to add to the win he notched on his hurdles debut at Market Rasen in 2017 (2m½f, good). Has some fairly useful form to his name at best, and has slipped to a more feasible mark, so don't rule out a big effort.
Placed in 5-11 hurdles, but remains a maiden. Would be a player from this mark if able to reproduce his Fontwell form from last May, and returned with a respectable effort at Sandown last month. Conditions fine and he is an each-way player.
Scored over hurdles (2m2f, good to soft) in France, but appears to have gone backwards since his first run for this trainer. Return to shorter trip may help, but still looks in need of favours from the handicapper.
Still early days over hurdles for this handicap debutant who showed promise on his debut in this sphere at Sandown in November (2m, heavy). Less exposed that his stable companion and looks worth a market check to gauge confidence. Hooded.
Sole win came over 2m4½f (good) at Market Rasen last April, when 11lb lower. Has run some good races in an 11-race losing run since then. Would have claims from this mark at his best, but hasn't yet produced that in three runs for this trainer.
