- Barry Bones 60th Birthday Handicap (Class 6)
- 6f 210y, Soft (Heavy in places)
- 14 Runners
- Surface: Turf
Versatile performer that counts two C&D successes among his six previous career wins; was also successful over a mile here (good to soft) nine days ago and has to be respected despite the 5lb penalty. Best on the back of a strong pace; good chance.
A course specialist whose form ties in closely with Hedging; 5lb better off after finishing fourth behind that rival over 1m here last week and entitled to consideration given that he'd come out on top in a previous encounter. 7f no problem; player.
Won a brace here in the summer but gone off the boil since; two starts since returning from a break were below par and possible he's better on a firmer surface; but does have a good chance at the weights if handling the ground. (Won this last year.)
First start since March but not actually raced on turf since last October so a lot to be taken on trust. Has gone close to riding herself of the maiden tag on numerous occasions but current record stands at 0-19; highly likely she'll need the run.
Third behind Hedging over a mile here in July (Confrerie was second) but not seen since. Yet to make much of an impact when there's significant give underfoot, so conditions not ideal for her return from a break. (Stable runs four.)
Effective on both turf and the AW but form has been below his best for some time and he's now on his lowest ever rating as a result. Most recent efforts leave him with a bit to find.
Never won a race beyond 6f but did run well to be placed over this trip at Leicester last week. Currently very well handicapped on the pick of his old form so has to be worth a betting check even though consistency isn't his strong point.
Got her head in front at Epsom in July (7f, good) and also went close over C&D from this mark shortly after. Might have needed the run when she raced away from the rest when finishing down the field at Lingfield last month. The betting can guide.
A course regular but winning isn't a natural process (just 1-17 so far) and might not want the ground to deteriorate any further than the overnight description. On a basement rating but becoming expensive to follow these days.
Hasn't won since August 2017 and has been largely inconsistent since; recent form has been a bit better but the mare lacks a tactical change of gear and others might prove more resilient on the predicted testing ground.
Has some ability but is 0-4 on turf and is untried on anything but a synthetic surface since last July. Looks a risky option despite being open to more improvement that some of her rivals.
Hasn't won since his racecourse bow in October 2017 (7f, soft, at Salisbury) but has snippets of form that suggest he can still pay his way. Was ahead of Hedging here back in July and only raced twice since. Dangerous to underestimate.
Has some ability but not consented to deliver a sustained challenge for a while now; form since joining his current yard has yet to really capture the imagination. Stiff test from 3lb out of the weights. (Engaged at Kempton on Wednesday night.)
Mixed form over the summer but would have place claims if running to her very best. However, she's never yet won on turf and testing ground is an unknown. Makes limited appeal from out of the handicap.
