Son of Lope De Vega cost €700,000 as a juvenile; a tenth foal out of a French juvenile Group 3 winner; half brother to four winners including Group 1 winner Here Comes When and Melodic Motion. Will get further in time but a classy pedigree on debut.

Lope de Vega colt showed some signs of ability albeit a well held 7L sixth on debut at Ascot. Trainer's runners do tend to improve significantly for their first run so not one to dismiss lightly.

Son of Iffraaj who fetched 190,000 gns and caught the eye physically when a decent fourth over 7f on debut. Should benefit from the experience and for this extra furlong. Likely to be competitive.

Iffraaj colt overcame a slow start when producing a sustained challenge to just be denied a neck at Chelmsford (AW) over this trip on debut. Should have learnt plenty and is up with the best form on offer. Leading hope on turf debut.

Golden Horn half-brother to very talented Group 2 winner James Garfield. Holds Investec Derby entry. Showed early pace but ultimately well held on debut. Should benefit with more time.

240,000 gns colt has run to a similar strong standard in two placed efforts over 7f so far. Hit the line strongly on both occasions and should appreciate the extra furlong. Arguably sets the standard.

Son of Casamento and a fourth foal; half brother to winner Fiery Breath. Tough ask on debut and may be better suited by an AW surface on breeding.

Ursa Minor (11/10), Live Your Dream (5/2), State Crown (4/1), Carlos Felix (6/1), Hlaitan (10/1), Robert Walpole (12/1), Cipango (14/1), Count Of Amazonia (20/1), Valletta Sunset (100/1)

Verdict

A wide-open affair with any amount of chances. Carlos Felix is a very interesting newcomer while it's hard to get away from the Godolphin trio. Ursa Minor has done little wrong in two defeats, will benefit from this extra furlong and a win shouldn't be far away. Live Your Dream was slowly away on debut but soon recovered and only went down narrowly when showing a good attitude in the process. There's little between them and STATE CROWN who really needed the run on debut but hit the line as though he was getting to grips with proceedings late and may have the most improvement to come at this early stage.
  1. State Crown
  2. Live Your Dream
  3. Ursa Minor
