Half-brother to various winners and made his first start a winning one with clear cut success at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) in early August. Entitled to improve again and hails from a powerful yard. The one to beat.

Ripon winner on his second start and has been running with credit in some major juvenile contests. Latest ninth in Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes suggests more is needed but is down in class for this.

Defied market drift on debut with commanding victory at Bath (5f) last month. Nature of win suggests step up to 6f should pose no issue and yard is in flying form of late. Can't be discounted.

Verdict

A small but select field for an above-standard conditions contest, preference is for LAZULI who dispatched some useful rivals with ease on his debut and that form has been franked since (the third has won at Brighton). He should prove difficult to beat for a yard who are excelling with two-year-olds this season. Lampang caught the eye on debut and would have looked an impressive winner had he not fluffed his lines at the start and that is of concern, while Misty Grey should appreciate an ease in class and the small field.
  1. Lazuli

  3. Misty Grey
