Hit with a 7lb rise for winning by 4½L at Musselburgh (7f, good) in April, the runner-up Hayadh won the Thirsk Hunt Cup on his very next start; has a pleasing career strike-rate (5-20); eased when finishing lame at York three weeks ago.
3b higher than when making all to beat Byron's Choice by ½L at Beverley (7½f, good to firm) last month; has weakened from the furlong pole when attempting to employ similar tactics in more competitive Class 2 handicaps since.
An improving yet also admirably consistent 3yo; effective over both 6f and 7f; 7lb higher than when beating Jack's Point by 2L at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) three weeks ago (fourth-placed Fanaar third in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot since).
Added to his two previous Windsor wins (6f) when springing a 20/1 surprise at Goodwood (7f, good) in May beating the re-opposing Love Dreams by 1L; steady off his revised mark in competitive Class 2 handicaps since; chance.
Acclamation gelding (70,000gns yearling); has blown away the opposition in a pair of 7f Lingfield (turf) novice races after posting a promising debut third at Newmarket in April; interesting to see what he makes of an opening handicap mark of 93.
Turf maiden (AW winner for Richard Hannon in 2016/17); had a couple of runs for Doug Watson at Meydan in late 2018/early 2019; back from a four-month break (stable debut) with a late charge from off the pace at Chelmsford (7f) 17-days ago.
Front-runner, 3-10 (30% strike-rate); 4lb higher than when beating Spirit Warning by 1L on his penultimate start (7½f, Chester); has C&D winning form in the book but the forecast fast ground is an obvious concern; faces competition for the lead.
Forecasts
Beat Le Bon (6/4), Mutaraffa (7/2), Kimifive (11/2), Love Dreams (7/1), Three Saints Bay (8/1), Mustarrid (10/1), Lincoln Park (16/1)
A race which lacks a three-place each-way angle (just seven runners) and promises to be an absolute 'burn-up' with the likes of Love Dreams, Mutaraffa, Mustarrid (historically) and Lincoln Park all generally keen to cut out the early fractions. Therefore, the suspicion is that this race will set up perfectly for a strong finisher with both Beat Le Bon and KIMIFIVE appealing. The former is arguably more progressive, but the projected odds will reflect that fact so in pursuit of greater value the Jo Tuite-trained four-year-old gets the vote. His recent efforts in competitive handicaps at Ascot, The Curragh and Newmarket are all perfectly respectable.

- Beat Le Bon
