Dual C&D scorer who has been desperately struggling for form of late. Made seasonal return from six-month off the track when a tailed off eighth of 13 at this venue last month. Look elsewhere for more realistic candidates.

Still quite lightly raced. Took advantage of a 7lb drop in the handicap when having just second start in that sphere and springing a 40-1 shock when winning at Ludlow (2m5f; good) last month. 4lb higher now but still of interest dropped in grade.

Has been the bridesmaid on each of her last three starts, most recently when second at Fakenham (2m4f; good to firm). It has now been over three years since she last tasted success but her consistency should at least allow her to play a minor role.

Improved for switch to handicaps when third behind Avithos at Exeter (2m7f; soft) two starts ago. Work to do to reverse that form and not as good since then. Could run into a place if she does have a preference for the forecast softer ground though.

Dual-purpose performer who is winless in eight attempts over hurdles but almost changed that with a close second at Cartmel (3m1f; good to soft) last month. Huge player off the same mark dropped into a Class 5.

In good form recently. Backed up her Exeter success two starts ago (which came on soft) with a respectable third at that course last time. Now just 2lb higher than for that run, and should remain competitive. One of the leading contenders.

Eight-race maiden who made handicap debut at Exeter (2m2f; good) last month when well-beaten. Dropped 5lb for that uninspiring effort. Up in trip but must do a lot more on the basis of what she has shown so far.

Reappeared in a race under rules for the first time in over a year when pulled-up at Chepstow (2m7f; good) in a Hunters' Chase. Has an off-putting record under rules and others have far superior claims.

Lee Side Lady (5/2), Avithos (4/1), Diamond Rose (4/1), Oborne Lady (9/2), Hot Ryan (6/1), Amour D'Or (14/1), Minnie Escape (16/1), Gowell (25/1)

Verdict

Despite springing somewhat of a surprise when breaking her maiden duck on her second handicap start, there was no fluke about the victory of Diamond Rose at Ludlow. If similarly patient tactics are adopted once more she has every chance of going again. Avithos is another name to note, as there doesn't seem to be any obvious reason to rule her out in her current form and she is unlikely to experience any problems with the forecast conditions. However, the interesting one in the line-up is OBORNE LADY who put up a career best effort over hurdles when runner-up in a Class 3 event at Cartmel recently and if able to match that form, should shed her maiden tag.
  1. Oborne Lady
  2. Avithos
  3. Diamond Rose
