Newcomer from a yard not noted for their debutante juveniles (4-166 last five years). Half-brother to 5f winner (including as a two-year-old Gold Stone); dam also sprint winner and a half-sister to smart sprinter Masta Plasta; worth a market check.

Yard already off the mark with juveniles (won the Brocklesby); 14% strike-rate with their two-year-old debutantes. Half-brother to juvenile winner 5f winner Mr Buttons out of an unraced dam; likely to be useful/well-fancied given connections.
Second juvenile runner of the season for this yard which are hardly prolific with juveniles (4-79 last five years with newcomers). Half-brother to three winners out of an unraced dam; looks to need time and distance.

10/11
Only one with experience in this contest having finished a good third in the Brocklesby (beaten 2L by a Fahey newcomer). Did the best of the quartet the yard ran in the race; speedily bred, reproduction of that run will see him go close in this.

Verdict

As with most early-season juvenile races a lot of guesswork is involved with only one of these having run before. The experience gained by Zulu Zander on his debut won’t have been lost on him and that should enable him to go close here. Two trainers that are always worth looking out for in early season two-year-old contests are Richard Fahey and Archie Watson, the former runs Mr Fudge who is well worth watching in the betting while the latter saddles SIX GUN. Watson has already saddled two first-time out juvenile winners this year and this one has the potential to be a third. Foad and Danny Ocean are two others worthy of respect in an interesting opener to the card.
  1. Six Gun
  2. Zulu Zander
  3. Mr Fudge
