Made good strides in his first couple of seasons over fences but has been struggling to add to his tally since he shot up the ratings. Still 6lb above his last winning mark and needs to better his last two starts to figure.
Won from a 5lb lower mark at Wetherby last November but subsequent efforts have been below par. Well held in a Grade 2 at Newbury last time but this is a more realistic level. Dropped 2lb since that run but still a bit prove.
Highly experienced chaser that is better than he showed last time out. Set to race from 9lb below his last winning mark and has a C&D win to his name; all gives cause for optimism. Shortlisted back at one of his favourite courses.
Won twice over this trip in point-to-points and has some fair form over hurdles to his name. Still open to improvement as a chaser and worth a betting check at least.
Given a chance by the assessor as he races from a 4lb lower mark than his latest effort over C&D; likes it here but is in the veteran stage of his career and still needs a lot to go his way.
A modest hurdler who reverts to fences after another average display latest. Has a lot to prove just now even though he's very lightly raced over fences.
A modest hurdler but showed vastly improved form when tried over fences latest. The gelding won in good style (easily beating a 132-rated rival in the process). Big chance if taking another step forward. Debuts in a handicap from a lenient mark.
Forecasts
Opening Batsman (7/2), Mine's A Pint (9/2), Nightfly (9/2), Quite By Chance (5/1), Pointed And Sharp (6/1), King Calvin (15/2), Deauville Dancer (8/1)
There is more to come over fence from MINE'S A PINT and the seven-year-old looks worth following on his handicap debut. The gelding won in novice company last time but created a very favourable impression in the process. Quite By Chance goes well at this course and is rated as a player now that he's back on a handy mark; while Opening Batsman also raises his game at Wincanton and would be dangerous to overlook despite his advancing years.
