Turned over Agrapart when winning this race in 2018 (heavy) en route to an ambitious tilt at the Stayers Hurdle; reliable over fences this season until finding the ground too quick at Kelso (finished lame) latest.
Better known as a handicapper (130-rated) and faces a nigh impossible task against these rivals at the weights, a fact which is reflected by his double-digit odds.
Has kept good company this season and posted a huge effort behind Unowhatimeanharry on his penultimate start (3m soft, Newbury); twice a winner at this track earlier in his career (2m-2m3f); holds definite claims.
5-12 over hurdles and a dual Grade 2 scorer (also a winner at this track in December 2014 (2m3f, heavy)); pulled-up in the Ryanair Hurdle (20/1) in March 2016 and absent since - for a period of 1066-days; debut for Nicky Richards.
No match for Paisley Park when finishing runner-up over C&D in Grade 3 company in November; back to winning ways over fences at Kelso since (accounting for Donna's Diamond); place prospects most likely.
Ended his chasing career prematurely, reverting to hurdles with a solid sixth to Penhill in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham in March (beaten approximately 7L); off since; top-rated in this field (by 7-10 lbs), so rates as difficult to oppose.
Likeable mare who has form closely associated with the likes of Jester Jet and If You Say Run (who compete in an earlier race); will appreciate the ground conditions but has plenty on her plate in this company, particularly over 3m.
Forecasts
Yanworth (6/4), Clyne (5/2), Kilcooley (5/1), Donna's Diamond (6/1), Shades Of Midnight (14/1), Petticoat Tails (20/1), Man Of Plenty (50/1)
Kilcooley is an unknown commodity off the back of a mammoth 1066-day absence, so this looks to be a straight shoot-out between the improving Clyne and the classy YANWORTH. The selection competes without the benefit of a recent run, and although his fencing prowess can be crabbed, there's little reason for knocking his level of ability over the smaller obstacles. Top-rated (161), the Alan King-trained 9yo has in excess of 7-10lb in hand of today's rivals on official figures and his class should come brimming to the fore.
- Yanworth
- Clyne
- Shades Of Midnight
