Not a lot to be positive about from three starts over timber last season, back from a layoff for first chase outing and sports a first-time tongue tie.
Dual novice hurdle winner in early 2017, last spotted being pulled up in Albert Bartlett won by Penhill at Cheltenham in that same spring. First-time hood sported after a long layoff for chasing bow. Market should tell more.
Progressed well before failing to impress when pulled-up in the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival, winning his previous start in impressive fashion by 15L. Similar at Aintree, back from a break and champion trainer going great guns, noted.
Won over 3m (soft) over hurdles for Henry Daly in January. Bought for £35,000 in May. Well held on stable/chase bow at Haydock (2m5½f, good) recently, should appreciate this easier surface.
Some useful efforts in handicap hurdles last season, rated 138, not spotted since being pulled up in Pertemps Final at Cheltenham in March. Should take to this discipline before long.
Bit to work on with some of these on hurdles ratings, has undergone wind surgery during off-season and could have more to offer in this sphere for leading yard.
Best form over timber came at 3m, has something to find with a few of these on best form over timber.
No match for Kalashnikov on chasing bow at Warwick recently, but put a wide margin between himself and the remainder. Up in distance now and should put that experience to good use.
Progressed nicely in four hurdles run last term (won his last two over similar trips no testing going) and wining point-to-pointer always liable to do better in this game. Noted on seasonal bow.
Good winner of novice hurdles at Chepstow and Kempton on final starts in the spring, both over close to 3m. Commands a close look on return/chase bow coming back in distance.
Strong stayer over hurdles, returns for first start over larger obstacles and finds competitive contest. Second runner for the yard in this field.
Three-time hurdles winner, including over this sort of trip when last spotted in the spring. Yard having decent season and earns the vote from Barry Geraghty from pick of two in this contest.
No impact in three previous starts under rules and just modest form in point-to-points, would be a surprise should he take this prize.
Progressive as a hurdler of late (won two handicaps in March) he's bred to make a chaser. Ran about as well as he could when coming across the classy The Worlds End on his chasing debut; before failing to get beyond the second on Sunday.
Just the one win from four starts over timber for this yard, back from a layoff for chasing bow and could have been found easier targets it seems.
Some fair hurdles form last term, though didn't appear to take his racing too well give gaps between outings. One of two for the yard, with Geraghty preferring stablemate Midnight Maestro.
Forecasts
Chef Des Obeaux (13/8), Huntsman Son (11/2), Now Mcginty (7/1), Any Drama (7/1), Lovenormoney (10/1), Crucial Role (12/1), Midnight Maestro (14/1), Forza Milan (16/1), Golden Sunrise (20/1), Just Don't Ask (22/1), River Frost (33/1), Groundunderrepair (40/1), Kilfilum Cross (50/1), Piri Massini (66/1), Alminar (100/1), Mistercobar (100/1)
Alan King fields a pair in the McManus hoops here and its noted that Barry Geraghty sides with MIDNIGHT MAESTRO. Three-times a winner over timber, he should make his mark in this sphere before long and is a value call at the forecast prices in a competitive heat. Chef Des Obeaux was progressive over timber and returns at a time when the Seven Barrows team are positively flying, he joins Crucial Role, Kilfilum Cross and the selections' stablemate River Frost on the shortlist. The long-absent Any Drama needs a close betting check returning for Harry Fry.
- Midnight Maestro
- Chef Des Obeaux
- Kilfilum Cross
