Two-time winner over 7f, won a claimer at Wolverhampton over this trip in January and shaped with plenty promise over 7f back there since on first start for this trainer. In decent order and must go on shortlist.
Lightly-raced Zoffany filly has posted runner-up finishes at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton over 7f lately, has scope to get off the mark if coping with this drop in distance on fifth career start.
Definite signs of ability in three AW starts over sprint distances before being beaten just ¾L into fourth on handicap debut over 7f at Lingfield 15 days ago. Back down in distance, should be capable of getting involved.
Won a Brighton maiden (6f, good to firm) in June but little positives since, including at Lingfield (5f, AW) recently on first start for new yard / since gelding operation. Must improve on that effort.
Returned from layoff / wind surgery to make winning handicap debut over 7f at Lingfield in January, just clinging on. No threat back there since off this mark, drops back to 6f now and not ruled out.
Has failed to hit the frame in five starts, but has shown signs of ability, including last time out at Lingfield over this trip when 4L fourth of 10. Eased 3lb since, cannot rule out despite being upped in grade.
Dandy Man filly no great threat in three turf starts last year, shaped well enough over this trip at Wolverhampton on AW bow recently, interesting to see if she can build on that with a run behind her.
Never a factor in three novice races, including over C&D in November and most recently at Lingfield in January over 6f. Likely to find this mark too steep on handicapping debut.
Forecasts
Flora Tristan (5/2), Montague (3/1), Cloud Eight (7/2), Fiery Breath (8/1), Haverland (10/1), Section Onesixsix (10/1), Little Aub (14/1), Alaska (20/1)
MONTAGUE made a good start for David O'Meara when second at Wolverhampton recently and, eased in grade, has a fair claim of going one better in this field. Fiery Breath was a winner on handicap debut at Lingfield and remains of interest despite a lesser effort there since while Flora Tristan has been second in recent outings at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton and should continue to knock on the door. Cloud Eight also has merits on the back of a useful run over 7f at Lingfield last time.
- Montague
- Fiery Breath
- Flora Tristan
