Useful handicap chaser who showed his best form last year when winning at Hereford and also ran with credit in the Grand National. 5lb above his last winning mark now and may just need this but should still be respected.
Winner in this race two years ago on his reappearance but has had a race under belt this time albeit a disappointing one at Chepstow. Blinkers now on for the first-time following that effort and one to be a little wary of.
Dual winning hurdler who makes his handicap chase debut here having run and won small-field novice chases. His jumping isn't always fluent though and while he may yet do better over fences that flaw may find him out here.
Showed some in-and-out form last year with his best run coming at Cheltenham in November over 2m. Now returns from a break with this trip likely to test his suspect stamina.
Formerly a useful hurdler/chaser he has won over fences but generally makes hard work of things often looking very lazy. Not seen for a while now and his stable are rather quiet at the moment.
Goes well here having twice won over shorter trips at the course beating small field s each time. Managed another small field win in April but showed very little on his latest start in first-time blinkers and this double figure field may find him out again.
Capable but difficult sort (has shown signs of temperament) and has to be caught in the right mood. One of two from his stable who are a little quiet at the moment and he was badly out of sorts when last seen; best watched.
Won three races last season but his record since has been rather up-and-down and he was well beaten last time. Cheekpieces are back on now but rather hard to know what to expect from this inconsistent sort.
Won this race last year before taking the Badger Ales Trophy straight after adding to his four course wins. Needs to bounce back from a moderate effort last time but back on his home course off a decent mark he's hard to ignore.
Winner in Ireland in bumpers and over hurdles and now starts out life for a new yard that do well with this under the radar sort and he should be watched in the betting. Stamina is a proven asset and it won't be a surprise to see him outrun his odds.
Forecasts
Mr Mix (11/4), Gentleman Jon (11/4), Bally Longford (13/2), Goodtoknow (9/1), Our Sox (9/1), Forgotten Gold (14/1), Mosspark (16/1), Adam du Breteau (16/1), Boa Island (16/1), Caulfields Venture (25/1)
Quite a few here who have run well around here in the past although Boa Island may well be better in small fields and Mr Mix needs to brush up his jumping. The two past winners of this Forgotten Gold and GENTLEMAN JON must be given a mention although the former needs to improve on a poor run last time and the a certain extent the latter needs to bounce back but he does love this venue. The trip may be a too far for Bally Longford with his stamina far from assured and Our Sox is a fascinating runner off his low weight from a yard that are not shy of a tilt at the ring.
