Surprise winner (50/1) at Perth last month, so proved he's dangerous to underestimate at least. More on under a penalty and looks a likely candidate to revert to type on these terms.
Form in bumpers only modest at best and hurdles debut Carlisle in April left a lot to be desired. Absence since then also a concern.
Shaping with promise but not stood much racing so far. Blundered away the rider when last seen out but likely to be wiser this time around and sure to know more about what's required of him. Sound claims.
Showed a lot of promise in point-to-points but needs to up his game after only a modest effort on rules debut in a Bumper at Perth. Would take a significant market move to sway the interest.
Won a bumper at Stratford for his former yard but hurdles debut for current training regime left a lot to be desired. Risks attached.
Promising individual that has shown a likable attitude in limited number of starts so far. Trip and ground not expected to pose too may problems so merits serious consideration.
Mixed form so far and needs to have thrived during his absence since last December. Yard respected and rider oozing confidence just now, so may be worth a check in the betting.
Debut run in a Bumper at Southwell was unsurprising - outpaced by the leaders 3f from home and lacked the tactical change of gear to respond. Best watched just for the time being.
Cost €40,000 and has a very likable Jumps pedigree. Won a Bumper at Newcastle before making a very satisfactory switch to hurdles over 2m2f at this course. Up in trip and the hood applied, but still a leading contender in this company.
Showed ability in three Bumpers but was left for dead on heavy ground on hurdles debut at Perth. Worth a check in the betting but others more appealing.
Closely matched with Rose Tree on their recent encounter at Perth and big improvement needed.
Forecasts
Coole Hall (7/4), Mayo Star (9/4), Bestiarius (5/2), Instant Replay (14/1), Sir Tommy (22/1), Boy's On Tour (25/1), Jiminy Cricket (25/1), Rose Tree (40/1), Wide Awake (100/1), Burlington Bert (100/1), Arctic Vodka (100/1)
MAYO STAR, a son of Stowaway, out of a Supreme Leader mare, is certainly bred for the Jumping game and may well improve greatly for being tasked over a bit further today. The gelding made good progress in Bumpers and looks a likely candidate to do the same over hurdles. Bestiarius is also going the right way and is feared most, while Coole Hall was another expensive purchase from the point-to-point scene and has to merit a second look in this company.
- Mayo Star
- Bestiarius
- Coole Hall
