Looked weak at the finish on debut at Perth just under a fortnight ago, and only cost £800 as a three-year-old. A major surprise if he can make the required level of improvement to be involved in the finish.

Unraced Scorpion gelding who is a half-brother to a few winners including bumper scorer Never Never. From a stable not known for winners in these races and cost only £1,500 as a three-year-old.

Twice raced in Irish Point-to-Points and was a fast closing 1L runner up to Eviscerating at Boulta in November 2016 (3m good). Not disgraced on stable debut in a 2m2f Punchestown bumper in April (seventh of 18 to Canardier), and has claims assuming it doesn't all unfold too quickly over this shorter trip.
Sixth foal home bred and a brother to Point-to-Point winner Merry Eric and a half-brother to Merry Minister. Solid debut over C&D in April when 5L second to Schiaparannie, and performed to a similar level when fourth to Golden Jeffrey at Kelso late last month.

Failed to complete in two starts in Irish Point-to-Points (October and November 2016). Cost €30,000 as a three-year-old which was a major mark up from his foal price (€4,500) and it's always wise to respect an O'Leary runner in a bumper. Market informative.
Second foal by Dapper out of the dual Point-to-Point winner Lewesdon Duchess, and should be sharper for the experience of his Market Rasen debut when he finished 1¾L runner up to the more experienced Brecon Hill.

Unraced ninth foal by High Chaparral out of Royal Shyness and once in the care of William Haggas. Bought for £3,000 in January 2017, this half-brother to various winners might have slight stamina question marks.

100/1
10,000 gns yearling, €5,500 two-year-old. A seventh foal by Mount Nelson out of Local Abbey who quickly lost his place when pressure was applied late on debut at Sedgefield in May.
Fifth foal home bred by And Beyond (responsible for being sire to Beyondtemptation). The Dam (Pennepoint) was unraced, but is a half-sister to a couple of winners in Italy. Wears a hood. Withdrawn here on May 13th (bolted).
No promise when one place and 14L behind Youredoingwell when last of seven on debut at Sedgefield in May.

5/1
First foal Sulamani mare out of Miss Nellie (who was a daughter of Midlands Grand National winner Miss Orchestra). Sent off 7/4f for her debut at Kelso last month, but could only finish 13L third to Heartasia. Needs to build upon that showing but capable of doing so and much respected from this stable.

50/1
First foal Midnight Legend mare out of Sabreflight, and with her local trainer no stranger to the odd bumper winner, interesting to see if she lives upto her name. Wears a tongue tie on debut.

28/1
Tenth foal by Presenting out of Hannigan's Lodger. Sister to winners Leave At Dawn and Present Lodger, and a half-sister to Shuh Shuh Gah (won a bumper for this trainer). Sent off 15/8f on debut over C&D last month, but weakened at the foot of the hill and heavily eased. Surely better than that effort but has a point to prove.

Forecasts

Fred The Foot (15/8), Mythical Prince (9/2), Rubytwo (5/1), Dijon (7/1), French Ticket (7/1), Quest For Life (10/1), Fencote Belle (28/1), Budle Bay (33/1), Shesthebusiness (50/1), Archies Bet (80/1), Yoredoingwell (100/1), Beyondperfection (100/1), Perfect Aim (150/1)

Verdict

Hexham bumpers often hold solid punting material, but unfortunately there is not standout performer in this field. The form pick is probably Quest For Life who ran a solid race on debut behind the talented Brecon Hill, but if the market is any reliable guide, the under-performing debutants Rubytwo and Fencote Belle are probably capable of better. Mythical Prince should be noted for a market move with Tom Scudamore booked whilst French Ticket and FRED THE FOOT have shown enough already to suggest they're fully capable of taking a race of this nature.
  1. Fred The Foot
  2. Quest For Life
  3. French Ticket
