Returned from over a year off the track on New Years Day 2017 for his first start for this trainer, but has achieved mainly little in six further starts, and has indeed finished last on two of his last three outings. No worries regarding trip, and first time cheek-pieces are applied for the switch back to turf (rated 8lb lower on grass than on the AW).
No problems with this trip when racing on the AW for previous trainer Chris Wall in 2016, and twice a runner up during August and September 2016. Campaigned over hurdles (without promise) since moving on for 27,000 guineas in October 2016, and given these riding arrangements has possibly been bought with these lady amateur riders events in mind.
Off the track for over two and a half years when well backed and getting the run of the race out in front over 1m5½f at Chelmsford last month, beating the exposed but reliable Bridey's Lettuce by ½L. Not able to repeat the trick at Doncaster on Saturday and an inexperienced rider takes over in the saddle today.
Raced over hurdles all winter, and showed similarly little when returned to the Flat at Chepstow in early May, but did much better when third of eight (plugged on) over 2m in soft ground at Nottingham latest. On balance probably an unlikely winner, but will handle cut.
Saves his best for this track, with his career form figures here reading; 4,2,1,6,5,7,2,6,9,6,1,3. This trip and ground will hold no fears, and he was a winner over hurdles at Bangor last month from a mark of 112, so a major player now returned to the Flat at this Lancashire track from a mark of just 65.
A six time career winner (3 Flat, 3 Hurdles). Possibly not at his very best at Ayr on his most recent outing (fifth to High Expectations, 1m5f good), but enters the equation on his previous 1m4f second to the progressive Royal Flag at Doncaster in early April (for this rider).
ZENAFIRE loves this track, and returns to the level in good form after a decisive hurdles success at Bangor last month. He probably needed the sharpener over C&D last month (his first Flat start for seven months) and looks the obvious play with ground conditions ideal in the kind of contest that makes little appeal to the majority of punters as a betting medium.
