Made all and kept on well to take an Exeter selling hurdle (2m, good to soft) by 7L in March, and left Sophie Leech afterwards at the auction. Not able to follow up in similar company there next month when only third to Gambol, and vulnerable now switched back to a stronger contest.
A much reduced hurdles mark was the catalyst for his Newcastle win in January but he ran poorly on his next start three weeks later when he was reported to have bled at Haydock. Handicapper has had his say and held from a 2lb higher mark at Kelso latest when partnered by this rider.
Stablemate of Lough Kent and Fantasy King, but has had plenty of attempts since winning at Kilbeggan in April 2015. However, finished third on stable debut at Wetherby in March to Caius Marcius and this trainer has a good record at his local track, already saddling two winners here this week prior to today. Possibilities from a 1lb lower mark.
Course winner who had an unsuccessful go over fences here on Monday after being denied a hurdles outing on Saturday due to the abandonment. On a fair mark over hurdles (109) and should be fine over this trip.
Ex Irish, and a dual winner over further in August 2016 for Sean Thomas Doyle at Tramore and Wexford. Ran well over 2m5f at Sedgefield when runner up to Sendiym earlier this month, and his previous Musselburgh third over this trip has been franked by the runner up Idder since (James Moffatt trained).
Has attracted strong market support the past twice when runner up at Sedgefield and Catterick. Bumped into the rejuvenated Lady Buttons at Newcastle in January, and a stablemate of Craig Star at Catterick in February. Races from a similar mark after a three month break, but with ground conditions firmly in his favour and with a useful 10lb claimer booked.
Raced keenly and showed little on his debut for this trainer at Perth earlier this month. Formerly with Charlie Longsdon and Colin Tizzard, for whom his last success came (off this mark) at Uttoxeter in March 2016.
Forecasts
Beeno (9/4), Fiosrach (7/2), Craig Star (4/1), Fantasy King (5/1), Lough Kent (8/1), Paddocks Lounge (12/1), Justatenner (20/1)
Much like the opener, a strong numerical hand is held by local trainer James Moffatt. However, his three runners may once more have to play second or third fiddle to others, with Craig Star much respected despite possibly being better suited by further. Lorcan Murtagh takes a valuable 6lb from his back (with 3lb of that coming because he takes the mount for his new boss Donald McCain). However, BEENO gets the nod. He had the misfortune to bump into Lady Buttons when heavily backed at Newcastle on his penultimate start in January, and fresh from a three month break, he looks the horse to be with as the ground remains soft, and with an added bonus of a useful 10lb taken from his back by the talented Robert Hogg.
- Beeno
- Craig Star
- Fiosrach
