Unraced third foal by Great Palm out of Overthrow. His Dam was a bumper winner, but unfortunately didn't achieve further success over hurdles. Stable 0 from 8 over the past 14 days, and also represented by Phantom Isle.
Stablemate of Bowler Bill who could only finish tenth of 13 to Kalashnikov in a Wetherby bumper in late March (good to soft). Mixed pedigree, but value plummeted (50,000 gns yearling) after failing to appear on the Flat for Simon Crisford.
€9,000 three-year-old by Westerner out of an unraced Old Vic mare (Rose Vic). Stable always command respect in these events and surely relevant that this excellent jockey comes over from Ireland to ride.
Cost just £2,000 and has produced reasonable enough midfield finishes so far in two bumpers. 12th foal who is closely related to Dansilver, but although boasting racecourse experience is of course much more exposed in terms of further improvement than the others as a result.
Second living foal by Kalanisi out of a Sir Harry Lewis mare. Her Dam (Long Shot) was a bumper, and 2m/2m5f hurdles winner which provides some sort of reason to be optimistic for the future, but these connections aren't exactly renowned for a steady stream of bumper winners.
Cost just £3,800 and is by Showcasing out of an Efisio mare, with a largely Flat-based pedigree. Last of eight on debut to Cockley Beck here in March, which was a slight disappointment, but open to further improvement. Non-runner at Market Rasen (27th April).
Forecasts
Way Out West (4/6), Bowler Bill (7/2), Wee Bogus (8/1), Phantom Isle (11/1), Xin Chao (16/1), Perfect Aim (20/1), Yoredoingwell (25/1)
Not a great deal to go on for this maiden bumper, so it's probably best to stick to basics. Stuart Crawford does very well with his cross channel raiders in bumpers, with a 'sell-on' value always at the forefront of his approach, so it's surely significant that Jamie Codd travels over from Ireland for a sole mount aboard the debutant WAY OUT WEST.
