Point-to-point winner who is a 24 race maiden under rules. Looks one paced and seems to have more weight than is justified. On the plus side stable are 7-25 around here.
Skilfully placed to land a sub-standard race at Kempton. Had his limitations exposed off his revised mark 11 days ago and has 61L to find with Prince Mahler. Jumped right under an amateur on that occasion so should do better around here.
Came good at the 14th time of asking when taking advantage of a career low mark. More to do under a 7lb penalty.
17-race maiden who ran his best race for current yard when blinkers were applied last time. Remains to be seen if they inspire him again. Has a 7lb pull with Prince Mahler for 4¾L if they do. Rider 7-25 for the yard.
Has less mileage than most in this lineup but also lacks a few gears. Stable now try a visor after blinkers produced modest improvement last time.
Ran well enough on return from four month break to warrant interest here. Yet to prove he stays this far but has more to offer in a finish than others in this.
Had a hard race when scoring over C&D in December. Has not been the same horse since and looked unenthusiastic last time.
Record of 2-40 with last win coming two years ago. Had a stiff task last time from 10lb out of the handicap and this looks another poor race. Handicapper has had the temerity to raise him in the weights and that may have put paid to his progress.
Forecasts
Mr Caffrey (10/3), My King (7/2), Prince Mahler (4/1), Zephyr (11/2), John Biscuit (8/1), Comical Red (11/1), Dropzone (14/1), Baldadash (16/1)
Prince Mahler and Mr Caffrey are closely matched on their meeting here last time, but neither have the sort of profile that would have you dashing to the rails to snap up a short price. Baldadash may do better here now going right handed under a professional rider but JOHN BISCUIT makes most appeal. He arrives here fresher than most having recently returned from a four month break. His stamina needs to be taken on trust but he has the best turn of foot in this if within striking range in the closing stages.
- John Biscuit
- Mr Caffrey
- Prince Mahler
