Soft ground Point-to-Point winner at Horse and Jockey (3m) for Andrew Slattery in mid March, and showed clear signs of promise on his English (and hurdles) debut at Newcastle recently when 17L third of four to Ami Desbois (2m4f Good). This extra yardage is likely to suit and a key player.
Well related, and a €120,000 three-year-old who was sold on cheaply in January 2017 (£4,500). Showed minor improvement on the second of his novice hurdle starts at Carlisle earlier this month when upped to 2m3f. This longer trip could suit but more is required in an admittedly weak contest.

Consistent in bumpers, and a winner at Sedgefield on Boxing Day (good to soft). Coped well enough with the switch to hurdles, and despite being beaten 15L by Bordeaux Bill at Sedgefield late last month (2m4f), that level of form is good enough to play a leading role in this race if his stamina lasts out over this longer trip.
€60,000 three-year-old who showed minor signs of promise in four starts in Point-to-Points for Ronnie O'Leary. Off since May 2016, he makes his debut for a new trainer, and is well worth a glance for any signs of market support.
Former Irish Point-to-Point racer who has shown little signs of promise in two starts for this trainer. Well held behind Golden Jeffrey in an Ayr bumper in late February, with his hurdles debut at Uttoxeter earlier this month also a tame effort (last of seven).
Left behind two low-key runs in Irish bumpers, with a never nearer fourth of 20 on hurdles debut at Navan earlier this month in a 2m mares maiden event won by her better fancied 4/1f stablemate Our Valentina. Takes a significant hike in trip (looks likely to suit) and could prove tough to beat if market support arrives.

Verdict

Victoria Says shaped as if a step up in trip would suit on her hurdles debut at Navan (beaten by a better fancied stablemate), and hailing from this stable is much respected. Helmsley Lad is a consistent sort, but there must be some concerns about his stamina over this trip, and whilst he'll undoubtedly find a race sooner rather than later over hurdles, he could prove beatable today. Andrew Slattery has done well with Dave Armstrong's Dimple over in Ireland this winter, and AN LAOCH hails from that same source, and shaped with clear signs of promise on his debut for Chris Grant at Newcastle recently, and seemingly certain to relish this step up in trip, he could prove to be the value play in a distinctly weak and winnable contest.
  1. An Laoch
  2. Victoria Says
  3. Helmsley Lad
